At Octavius & Grimsby, we believe true curiosity honors the creatures and curiosities of the natural world, and never exploits them. We do not kill animals for taxidermy or wet specimens. Our pieces are sourced responsibly from natural causes, farms, hunters, and other byproduct avenues, ensuring that no animal loses its life solely for decorative purposes.

We made our name with beautiful bat displays, but once we learned about the harm that reckless bat culling was causing, we chose to walk a different path, retiring bats from our inventory and weaving a commitment to sustainability into the very heart of our work. As lifelong animal lovers, we are proud to stand against unethical sourcing and the exploitation of wildlife.

Returns & Exchanges

Due to the delicate, one-of-a-kind nature of many of our items,  all sales are final on taxidermy, wet specimens, vintage/antique goods, and other fragile or limited edition pieces.

We gladly accept returns or exchanges on apparel, accessories, and most non-fragile home goods within 14 days of delivery, provided the item is unused, in its original condition, and in original packaging. Buyer is responsible for return shipping costs unless the return is due to our error.

Once an order leaves our hands, we are not responsible for carrier delays, loss, or theft. While we’re happy to help where possible, shipping delays and lost packages must be resolved directly with the carrier.

If your item arrives damaged or incorrect, please contact us within  3 days of delivery with photos of the packaging and item, and we’ll make it right.

All in-person booth or event sales are final unless otherwise noted at the time of purchase.

Gift Returns

If you received an Octavius & Grimsby item as a gift, we’re happy to offer an exchange or store credit for eligible items within 14 days of receipt, as long as the item is unused and in its original condition. We’ll need the name of the original purchaser or order number to process the return.

Please note: due to their nature, items like taxidermy, wet specimens, vintage goods, and other fragile curiosities are not eligible for return, even when received as a gift.

Order cancellations must be requested within 24 hours of purchase. After that, your order is likely already in motion and cannot be canceled.

It is the buyer’s responsibility to know and comply with their local, state, and federal laws regarding the purchase, possession, and importation of animal remains, taxidermy, or other related items. By purchasing from Octavius & Grimsby, the buyer agrees that they are in compliance with all applicable laws in their area.

Octavius & Grimsby is not liable for any legal consequences, penalties, or criminal charges resulting from the unlawful purchase, ownership, or transport of our items. We do not guarantee that any specimen or artifact is legal in your specific jurisdiction, and we encourage all customers to research relevant laws before placing an order.
